About Spencer Wartman

Mortgage Loan Originator | NMLS #2109932 | Trident Home Loans

There is exactly one person in the United States who has logged 809 combat hours in a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, flies a 767 Captain for a major carrier, holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Missouri Air National Guard, and closes mortgage loans as one of the top-ranked VA loan originators in the nation.

That person is me. And I tell you that because it is directly relevant to why I am the right loan officer for you.

Military Career

I graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 2006. Over the following 20+ years of active duty and reserve service, I flew the KC-10 Extender as an active-duty Air Force officer and the B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Missouri Air National Guard based at Whiteman Air Force Base.

In that time, I completed numerous combat deployments, including Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, accumulating over 800 combat hours and earning numerous Air Medals, and I’ve served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Missouri Air National Guard.

Airline Career

Since July 2017, I have served as a pilot for a major airline carrier. I understand the complexities of airline pilot compensation from the inside: first-year pay structures, longevity steps, per-diem, trip rigs, and the way union contracts describe income in ways that confuse most underwriters.

Mortgage Career

I became a licensed Mortgage Loan Originator at Trident Home Loans in November 2021 — a veteran-owned and operated company based in Pensacola, Florida, that has built a national reputation as the preferred lender for veterans and military families.

Since 2021, I have specialized (but not limited) in VA loans for veterans and home loans for airline pilots across many states in which I am licensed. I am recognized as a Top Veteran Loan Originator and hold a CVLS (Certified VA Loan Specialist) designation.

Why mortgages? Because I have been the veteran staring at a VA loan estimate, unsure if the numbers are right (and was taken advantage of in the past as a consumer). I have been the pilot trying to explain my income to an underwriter who has never seen a union contract. The frustration of dealing with lenders who don’t understand your life is what drove me to become the loan officer I wish I’d had.

My Specialty: Who I Serve Best

Veterans and Active Military:
I have personally used the VA loan benefit. I understand DD-214 requirements, Certificate of Eligibility, how disability ratings affect the funding fee, basic allowance for housing (BAH) as qualifying income, the nuances of second-tier entitlement, and how to close loans efficiently for active-duty borrowers with PCS orders.

Airline and Military Pilots:
I hold the same airline contracts you do. I can explain your income to an underwriter in language they understand — and I have originated loans for first-year pilots at major carriers that other lenders told those pilots were impossible.

Any Veteran, Active Military, Military Spouse, or anyone who deserves outstanding service:
90% of my loan volume is VA loans. 10% is conventional. Every client gets the same thing: my personal cell number, real-time responses, and my word.
